Machinehead Bicycle Software is a versatile and comprehensive suite of cycling-related utilities useful for the amateur and professional alike.

It comes with tools that are good for your bicycle (a gear calculator, a spoke length calculator, a crank length calculator, and a chain length calculator) and good for you, such as a power calculator and a heart rate calculator.

The Gear Calculator (GearCalc Pro) has been designed to help you calculate the right speed, cadence, and gearing step sizes. It provides you with guidance about the speed that better fits each gear and the corresponding cadence. The new version of this utility (2.2) comes with a gear calculator for fixed wheel bikes.

WheelCalc is geared to wheel builders and bicycle mechanics mainly. It calculates the right length of spokes according to the measurements of both the hub and the rim. Likewise, the crank length calculator (Crank Calc) will help you calculate the optimal crank length based on the cyclists’ legs position when riding a bike. Finally, Chain Length Calculator will help bicycle builders and users to calculate the right length for the two main transmission types – derailleur and fixed wheel bikes.

When it comes to your health, Machinehead Bicycle Software offers you PowerCalc and LevelCalc. The former will give you precise calculations of your power requirements in Watts and horse power according to a given speed. It will also tell you the calories burnt, and the energy required to maintain a certain power output under specific conditions. The latter, however, will give you your “heart rate training zones” as defined by six different top coaches.

All the programs included in this suite are also available for download individually from the developer’s website.

I think that the air density is not being correctly calculated in Power Calc program. I couldn't match the results with standard engineering equations.Otherwise, a perfect program.Thank you.
